A Bold Attempt!

Postby Jarhead » Fri Nov 16, 2018 2:38 am

Question for all the old clod players here that have moved on to BoX, how interested would you be in having a get together on a serious server on a regular basis? The cliffs community has always been second to none, and ATAG and SoW were well run servers, but they were just the tool for a community of pilots who made it a mature, snd welcoming community. You could rekindle those lost relationships that have fadded as the haydays of clod dlip behind us. Does this idea peak anyones intetest?

Ive posted this question at atag, acg, 71st

Well I think also box have a good community too with nice servers.
Kotha and Finnish virtual pilots are a really good balance between WOL and TAW.
Sure would be nice to see some of the server that were on clod but box surely is ok on that side.

Finish is absolutly dead in non European time zones. Wings is the only place with numbers when TAW is not running. If you read the chat, it can turn into aids real quick, and runways might as well be removed. Coco expert has members landing on airfields and using gunners to spawn camp while other land on roads and taxi to the objective and destroy it like a tank. This to name a few. You might say its healthy in numbers, but not in players who want a serious experience TBH I give up, the autisim is soo strong in this thread here:

, that it not worth my time to convince people who dillusionally think TF5 is the answer when asked if old clod players on bos should setup a get together. Your hobby which we all call ww2 siming doesnt look healthy. Rant ovrr.

I can't respond to that ATAG thread because I'm obviously banned.

However SOW is dead precisely because TF refused to engage with us. I'm glad that they're suddenly two peas in a pod with TWC who appear to have essentially reimplemwnted large parts of SoW but it doesn't solve the problem.

"If you build it they will come" is a load of crap. People are tired of clod. They're tired of excuses. They're tired of the politics. The game itself is tired and it shows.

ACG have transitioned to BoX and are having issues. It's not as capable. It's not as flexible. But it is younger and likely got more longevity.

DCS is the future. Sadly it's not here yet.

If you want my opinion, ww2 simming looks healthy, I mean... there are 2 sims that improve continuously and with a good base player ( il2 box for the majority ).
It's only clod that is not healthy.

I'm not happy for that I admit it, I really liked clod. In some aspects is the better sim out there, but it's almost at a dead end now ( Multiplayer speaking).
TWC campaign showed that perfectly. They did a great work in organising and making the event but all the time that I see the number of players is always around 20.

As for Sp00ks post. I could put SoW back up tomorrow and he's absolutely right. It wouldn't be the same. The players and squadrons who were instrumental and core to the experience have moved on. The flight sim world has moved on. Only a bitter few refuse to acknowledge that Clod is dead.

That there is no clear successor at this time and no prospect of one is painfully evident. We at SoW have been over this time and time again and could see it coming for several years.

Lets be clear. SoW didn't kill clod. Players advocating other games didn't kill clod. What killed clod is Team Fusion and Buzzsaw. Sure, it's still played by a handful of players but are you seriously suggesting that level of participation is sufficient to keep it going or revive it? "Keeping the dream alive" - more like "presiding over the longest suicide known to man".

Sometimes you have to accept that what you loved can never be regained and move on. I have done that and as painful as it was/is, it's liberating as well.

Meh. I don't much enjoy BoS multiplayer.. it's ok but I have limited time. I might jump on occasionally with little_d and flugelbieger but that's about it.

Had a great night this week with 54sqn in DCS and am keen for more of that so. Yeah.. Thanks but nah.

Well SOW was EPIC!
The sim is still good! Ans the only one who can give players the BOB experience and emotions! Having raf squadrons vecotored by Tophat intercept a big bomber formation plus escort is something special!
Don’t understimate it!
If you’d like to run a single special event nigth we can fill the server easily!

(And after showing you can provide what the community ask, if i were in teamfusion i would listen much more carefully to your needs to improve sow...)

Said this i concur:
Clod is starving (i’ll buy tobeuk anyway)
BOX is fun but missing something (could still improve tough)
DCS is the future (but for WWII need adaptations, better lods, better damage model, and maybe some sound effects)
