DCS Me 262 in Normandy?

DCS Me 262 in Normandy?

So, according to recent news on DCS, they are starting to consider the Me 262 (personally, I hope it is the Sturmvogel and not the Schwalbe).

I've been doing to some research on this trying to figure out if they are appropriate to the DCS Normandy map. From what I can tell, it seems that a single squadron 3./KG51 used them under the command of IX. Fliegerkorps (the other squadrons in I./KG51 did not deploy to the west until 05-Sep-1944). Given that KG51 is a bomber Geschwader, that does imply the Sturmvogel version of the Me 262 (yay!).

Here are the data that I found:
Code: Select all
20.7.44 - 12.8.44  Chateaudun***         IX. Fliegerkorps  Me 262A
12.8.44 - 15.8.44  Étampes               IX. Fliegerkorps  Me 262A
15.8.44 - 27.8.44  Creil                 IX. Fliegerkorps  Me 262A
27.8.44 - 28.8.44  Corbeny Juvincourt    IX. Fliegerkorps  Me 262A
28.8.44 - 30.8.44  Ath-Chièvres          IX. Fliegerkorps  Me 262A

However, does anyone else know of any other Me 262 operations in Normandy for the Jun-Aug 1944 time period?

I don't think there were many, there were a couple of over flights by the Ar234 but, if I recall correctly, the Me-262 barely features in Normandy. I think it may be mentioned in Pierre Closterman's book.

I'd be interested to see how the Me-262 compares to the Mig-15 and the F-86, it should be outclassed but I don't know that a properly modelled version has been made before.

Be wary of using anything Closterman has written as authoritative evidence; he is renowned in the WW2 aviation community has having a colourful imagination. His reminiscences regularly do not reconcile with either official Allied or Axis documents regards dates or activities.
