It is rather interesting that all of your wingmen got shot down, and all of them were captured other than Herr Comrade German, who just happened to escape capture...

With regards to the wings, it seems the Bf109s have the least durable wings of those listed in the patch 2.010 notes from last May:

Bf 109, Fw 190 and some other planes durability is fixed (it was undeliberately lowered because of the many earlier changes in these aircraft). Now twin longeron Soviet fighters with delta-wood wings are roughly 20% more durable than Bf 109 fighters which have single longeron wings, while Fw 190s with triple longeron wings are roughly 20% more durable than Soviet fighters. P-40 is even more durable thanks to its five longeron wings. Pe-2 and Bf 110 planes are roughly twice more durable than Soviet fighters while IL-2 fits somewhere in between Pe-2 and LaGG in terms of combat durability

Although how realistic the wing loss is is a different question.

The way that first one blew up when hit in the port wing root sounds like the ammunition explosion discussed here:

https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/35 ... wn/?page=2

No idea why that would make the starboard wing fall off though, it also seems to detach just before the explosion, although that might be a track thing.

They do seem to enjoy the excessive zig zag when it comes to escorting.

You should get replacements after a while, presumably at the start of a new day, plus those two injured ones will get better.

Nice to see that German died on my Birthday as well.

On my end I've been promoted to Lieutenant and been given a shiny new MiG.

Need to work on my VR gunnery it seems.

(Dramatic shaky cam comes as standard with VR it seems.)

It seems that it's pretty easy to spot ground targets in VR as they shimmer in contrast with the terrain, in the video I first spotted the ground convoy in the distance at 2:02.

That was the last sortie of that career, as after landing I got the 'mission save error' message, which is the second career of mine to end that way.

Presumably it's secret code for 'sent to Gulag' or something.

I guess I'll start a new career with the same squadron from the following battle phase and just pretend I got demoted after spending a few weeks in re-education or something...

Mission 7.

It seems that the "Dynamic" campaign always uses the exact same waypoint for egress from the target. The waypoint is also about mid-way along the front line so I guess they got lazy and just came up with something that would work for ALL soviet airfields... the problme is, for me, it can result in some rather un-realistic flight plans, due ot the front line having a dog-leg in it. The flight will be assigned a path that tracks right along the front (i.e. dangerously exposed to flak and fighters) line for an un-necessary amount of time.

This is just one of many short-cuts that IL2 has taken in this dynamic campaing generator.

Decided to start a Pe-2 career because my fighter career stopped working.

Pe-2 career stopped working after the first sortie...

One thing I really wish they had, which shouldn't be a problem with BoBp is english voice acting. Another mod perhaps? I don't care of it's some guy just doing a bad russian accent in english, but it's very frustrating not knowing what pilots are shouting unless I take a second to read the screen. And I have a 55" screen about two feet from my face. Looking at that text means I'm not looking where I'm going. Very annoying.

Just FYI, Someone has made an alternative voice pack with English. It does not need Mods turned on, you just replace the files.

Managed to fix my career breaking issue with a quick database edit.

Here's the thread with the info, in case anyone else needs help escaping from the Gulag:

Ah cool! Thanks for pointing that out. I'll try to recover my broken campaign tonight.
