RAF Mustang Pilot Skins

Postby 19RAF MJDixon » Mon Jan 23, 2017 11:00 pm

Although the Spitfire has a fancy RAF Pilot 3D model, it seems the Mustang doesn't, so I've quickly put together a few different Pilot skins (just recolours mainly, so don't expect historical accuracy!):

They don't apply to the first person cockpit model, only the external and 'bailed out' one, and you'll need a custom aircraft skin to make use of them - if anyone's interested then I can find somewhere to upload them (I use MediaFire at the moment, though it's a bit naff) - I can also do personalised ones with different squadron insignia / rank epaulettes / fancy moustaches / dashing cravats, etc if requested. :lol:

I've uploaded a selection of four generic RAF style Mustang Pilot skins, (hopefully) available here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/3xv3lqjc9qaar ... s.rar?dl=0

It includes:

Blue Battledress
Irvin Flying Suit
White Overalls
Grey Flying Suit

and the same but with life jackets (I'm not overly pleased with the life jackets, as they're 2d textures and should be 3d objects, but I thought you might like the option rather than drown. :lol: )

Installation Instructions:

Code: Select all
Copy the desired Pilot textures into the folder of your custom Mustang skin and open the description.lua in that folder

Using the RAF 112 Sqdn Mustang description.lua as an example:

For the Standard Battledress Pilot Skin:

Replace the following lines:

{"pilot_P51_patch", 0 ,"empty",true};
{"pilot_P51_helmet_b", 0 ,"pilot_P51_helmet_b",true};

with:

{"pilot_P51_patch", 0 ,"pilot_P51_patch_Wings",false};
{"pilot_P51_helmet_b", 0 ,"pilot_P51_helmet_b",true};
{"pilot_P51_body", 0 ,"pilot_P51_RAF_Battledress",false};

To use the WW2 style helmet you need to add the following line to the bottom of the description.lua, if it is not already present:

id        = 2

If another ID number is already present then replace it with the above.

For all other Skins and those with Life Jackets (ie theose that don't have their own patch file):

Replace the following lines:

{"pilot_P51_patch", 0 ,"empty",true};
{"pilot_P51_helmet_b", 0 ,"pilot_P51_helmet_b",true};

with:

{"pilot_P51_patch", 0 ,"empty",true};
{"pilot_P51_helmet_b", 0 ,"pilot_P51_helmet_b",true};
{"pilot_P51_body", 0 ,"pilot_P51_RAF_Battledress_LJ",false};

Replace pilot_P51_RAF_Battledress_LJ with the name of the specific Pilot skin file

Again, to use the WW2 style helmet you need to add the following line to the bottom of the description.lua, if it is not already present:

id        = 2

If another ID number is already present then replace it with the above.
