DCS on the civil multiplayer servers?

Postby Admin (Dietrich) » Mon Apr 16, 2018 10:29 am

The recent comments regarding the "whole-world" map for DCS have made me think about the civil aviation simulators, which are also "whole-world". That then made me wonder if it would be possible to integrate DCS into the multiplayer super-servers that exist for the civil aviation sims. Servers like VATSIM and IVAO can accommodate all of FSX, FSX, Prepar-3D and X-Plane. If so, then in principle it would be possible to include DCS too?

I know that IVAO at least run special operations, allowing pilots to fly F-16s, etc. on their network. There are some limitations, but I am wondering if this is a way to integrate the sims.

Aren't the graphics usually pants in those simulators though? While it would be great to be able to fly from anywhere in the world I don't mind having the maps that we do

Could just pretend by telling all the Civilian players that they're not allowed to fly over Georgia anymore.
