Only cosmetic I know.. but I think this is well done

DCS canopy droplets/ raindrops.
For me ,thhey've done a much better job than IL2 have done.
They way it clears properly with airspeed is good (IL2 still has large rivultes and pools of water even at speeds above 500 kph). And hopefully these droplets will only be visible when it is actually raining. IL2 likes to think that any time a piece of metal or perspex goes into cloud, it starts raining...

I will say the effect in IL2 when the aircraft in front of you flies low over a river or any water and your canopy is covered in drops is pretty cool though! That took me by surprise!

Because airplanes kick up spray like F1 racing cars right?
This is just another example of il2 going for effects without considering the physics.

I'm sure there will be some spray, but then I've never flown an aircraft that close to water...maybe we could test it with a fan.

Does it still rain inside hangars in DCS post update?

I wonder if they'll model things like hydrophobic coatings/fluids in modern aircraft as opposed to the WW2 aircraft, or just have a universal effect.

Also interesting to see if the windscreen wipers work on things like the choppers.

Water on the windscreen should be limited to inclement weather. Possibly for rough-water taxiing in a seaplane.

To be fair Dietrich, OD was referring to spray from a low flying aircraft in front landing on the canopy of a trailing aircraft.

However I've never seen footage of water spray kicking up the 3m required to land on top of a ww2 bird flying at 1ft above sea level, assuming a virtual pilot can actually hold such low level flight.

It seems.likr the devs went driving in the wet one day and got stuck behind a truck and thought of implementing the tire-impact effect on surface water to non-contacting aircraft.

You are right.

(I've removed the rant. Sorry.)
